Claudia Lucia Creative Expansion – Bristol Makeup, Stylist & Body Artist

Hello, it has certainly been a while!  I can’t believe this year will be 17 years I’ve been a freelance makeup artist and can truly say it’s flown by. The industry has definitely changed,; it goes without saying the impact of  social media has had in how we all communicate. Coming from the old school, pre-digital age, I can just about keep up!

Being a creative, I love exploring other avenues and challenging myself. I’ve recently returned to my fashion/styling roots and expanded to Visual Merchandising Design. I’m throughly enjoying this new creativity, along side my makeup and body art. My main client  is Tailored Flooring, on Chandos Road, Bristol, a high end  flooring supplies. With the opening of their new showroom last year, this has given me the opportunity to showcase their beautiful, high quality products. Also to come, my entry of Body Factory at the stunning Eden Project.

Claudia Lucia’s Publications 2015

Where has this year gone already…?! Not sure but realised it’s been a while since my last blog. I wanted to share a few success stories so far that I was pretty chuffed with. At the beginning of the year I was very pleased to have won top make-up artist at Clifton Photographic Studio, where have now worked for 13 years! A far few faces to have made up & transformed. Come Spring time, I worked on another great collaboration with the team at Tailored Flooring. The advert was published in a local magazine, Clifton Life.

It’s the Wedding Season – come rain or shine!

Hello! It’s been a while since my last blog. Like many, I’ve found this year has just flown by! Already it’s Summer time, traditionally the ‘wedding season’, although I’ve been busy with bookings all year round, which is great taking me also to stunning venues like Orchard Leigh in Frome and Tortworth Court. Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Anusha Boutique, launching their new 2014 collection of beautiful vintage-style wedding accessories & jewellery. There were a fair number for Dan, the photograher to capture, so we wanted to achieve a few different hair styles to show off the variation of how of these gorgeous wedding accessories can be worn. Claudia Lucia’s Highlights of 2013 – New for 2014

I can’t quite believe I’m coming into my 14th year of being freelance, where has the time gone? Revisiting my passion for body painting, must have been my biggest challenge; pushing my creative boundaries and loving it! Met some incredible artists in the body painting world. Another highlight, I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with inspiring photographer, writer & teacher Damien Lovegrove in his hollywood lighting workshops/dvd and art nude, working with some lovely models achieving an array of stunning shoots.

Body Factory Competition – 3rd Place!

by Tony Cooney

Cosmic Girl

There was just over 2 weeks to go when I decided to enter the body painting competition Body Factory at Heartlands, Cornwall. Extremely excited at the opportunity and so nervous with no time at all to prepare! After speaking to Nicola Langridge, founder and professional body painter, she put me at total ease and did her upmost to find me a model.  Also, I was looking forward to meet the other artists.

Bristol Body Painting – Crowning Glory

Inspired by The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee…I wouldn’t call myself  a royalist, but I was swept away with all the celebrations with this momentous occasion. So here is my tribute to Queenie. The idea was to create a look for guest going to a jubilee garden party, as long as the rain stayed away! A second look a rock chic style for the evening.

Bristol Based Fashion Shoot

Loved working on this shoot with the talented Sophie Davies and gorgeous model Jess, from Room3 Agency.  Sophie’s vision was using quirky & vintage props to suit Uncle Sam’s American Vinatge Clothing, Park St. Bristol. Make-up was kept quite simple, eyes softly defined but edgy using a dark plum lipstick.  Unkempt hair, loosely pinned away from face. These amazing pair of antlers were shipped over from Amercia especially for the shoot. Don’t worry, no animals were harmed in the process!

Claudia Lucia goes Vintage Halloween

Trick or Treat?

You may have just noticed a touch of vintage influence throughout 2012 – from fashion, crockery to festivals and dance. So, as a treat for Halloween I went all vintage too. I wanted to create a chic but haunting look. Photographer Sophie Davies captured the mood beautifully. Read the rest of this page »

Short film – The ISDEC Code

Trailer for The Isdec Code Starring Derek Fowlds from ITV’s Heartbeat.

One aspect I love about my work is the variety it gives – the opportunity arose to be Make-up Designer for 8 cast for a
festival short film, The Isdec Code. From creating cuts and brusies, natural to de-aging! Assisted in costume which I also enjoy being involved with.

Vintage style for Autumn/Winter 2012

Autumn is definately here. A few new snazzy garments to my wardrobe always helps to perk up the winter blues. A 1940′s twist to hair and make-up, compliments the vintage style purple maxi dress which is just one of the many beautiful dresses you can find at Anusha. Colour palette for make-up: warm greys, rich purple and a touch of antique gold. I love Mac ‘ Dark side’ lipstick, for sultry lips. Rich plums/ blood reds are colours to look out for the party season.

Make-up fit for a Queen – Diamond Jubliee Tribute

I teamed up with my colleagues at Clifton Photographic Company, creating our own queen for the day, LMT. For make-up, I wanted to achieve a soft 1950′s style; began with a full coverage foundation, perfect for photo shoots.  Applied soft tones for eyeshadow, MAC ‘haux’ and ‘vanilla’ with a bit of ‘nylon’ for touch of  shimmer. Dark brown kohl eye pencil was applied for eye shape definition, then redefining with L’Oreal eye gel.

Mariette Davina’s New Single

A church hall’s alcove was the idyllic setting for the latest music video of  the very talented, British classical crossover artist, Mariette Davina. Soft candle light, a grand piano and Mariette’s beautiful voice, worked perfectly reflecting the singer songwriter’s new single, ‘You Are Holy’ from her UK album release: Click below to view:

Music video ‘Silencio’ at the Gower Coast

Silencio

Catching the breaking of the dawn at Three Cliff Bays, Gower Coast, made the 3.30am start well worth while.  We shot the latest video ‘Silencio’ for Claudia Aurora, an acclaimed Fado/ singer songwriter who’s based here in Bristol. This stunning location captured perfectly the emotions of the song.  A fun day, working with a great team.

Fashion Shoot with Marko Dutka & Daphne Self

Fashion photoshoot at Goldeny Hall in Bristol – this has to be one of my favourite projects, along with ‘Portrait of Genius’.  Art and fashion really come together in Marko Dutka’s work. The aspiring and oldest supermodel, Daphne Self.

Chew Magna

Electro pop with a twist. I was lucky enough to work with Toby Farrow, from Farrow Creatives when he needed a make-up artist to assist on the latest photo shoot for local band Chew Magna. Casualty make-up caused a few heads to turn in the local pub!

Short Film

Jan – 2010. Hello, happy new year! After a much needed rest, it’s been a busy start already. I’ve been working on a short film called The ISDEC Code (link is below). It’s a new challenge which is always good, with all the continuity factors. Different characters, allowing make-up to be varied and of course meeting new crew and cast.
